Support your own economy.

Summer has got off to a rather soggy and slow start but I am sure we will have a hot and sunny end to July. There are still plenty of things to enjoy, what ever the weather.

This skyscape was taken on the 13th of July at Trebarwith strand

It would appear that this season is definitely quieter than previous years, a direct effect of the crisis being created by our Lords and Masters, and yet they prepare to spend billions of our pounds on an Olympic event.. ouch! the credit crunch just bit me again. All the more reason to get out there and enjoy it. You will find several suggestions for things to do in the area, so go on get out there.

Bank Job.

I was in Launceston the other day doing some banking when a man charged into the bank wearing a balaclava and wielding a handgun. He shouted "this is a raid - everyone get on the floor!!", which we all did, and then he proceeded to empty the cash drawers. Has he ran towards the door with the loot, a brave customer pulled the robbers balaclava off revealing is face. The robber immediately turned and shot the poor customer in the head and shouted to us all laying on the floor....."Did anybody else here see my face?".
He then noticed another customer peering from behind the counter and walked over and shot him in the head too.
"Did anybody else see my face?" he shouted again, waving his gun around. There was silence for a few seconds before an elderly male voice in the far corner of the bank is heard muttering....
"I think my missus caught a glimpse...."

School telephone answering machine

This is the message that apparently the staff of a Secondary School in
the Midlands voted unanimously to record on their school telephone answering machine.

This is the actual answering machine message for the school. It came
about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing homework.

The school and teachers are now being threatened with legal action by
some parents who want their children's failing marks changed to passing
marks - even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the term
and did not complete enough schoolwork to pass their various key stages.

The outgoing message:

Hello! You have reached the automated answering service of your
school. In order to assist you in connecting to the right member of staff,
please listen to all the options before making a selection:

* To lie about why your child is absent - Press 1
* To make excuses for why your child did not do his/her work- Press2
* To complain about what we do - Press 3
* To swear at staff members - Press 4
* To ask why you didn't get information that was already enclosed in
your Newsletter and several other letters posted to you - Press 5 *

If you want us to bring up your child - Press 6
* If you want to reach out and touch, slap or hit someone - Press 7
* To request another teacher, for the third time this year -Press 8
* To complain about bus transport - Press 9
* To complain about school lunches - Press 0
LASTLY:
If you realize this is the real world and your child must be
accountable and responsible for his/her own behaviour, class work, homework
and that it's not the teachers' fault for your child's lack of effort, hang
up and have a really wonderful day!

N.B. If you have any amusing anecdotes that are suitable for young and old please submit them to the website.. and we will publish the most amusing.
